Charles Siwawa, CEO, Botswana Chamber of Mines
Charles Siwawa is currently employed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Chamber of Mines based in Gaborone, a position he has occupied since 2010. He holds a Masters Degree in Industrial and Administrative Sciences from City University London, UK over a Mining Engineering Degree from the University of Leeds, UK. Mr. Siwawa has extensive background in the mining industry in Botswana. Prior to joining the Botswana Chamber of Mines, he was employed by Debswana Diamond Company in various capacities from 1982 until 2009.
Mashale Mphumaphi, CEO, Shumba Resources
Currently the Managing Director of Shumba Resources, Mashale Phumaphi is a mining executive focused on funding and developing mineral projects in Africa. He was formerly part of the corporate finance team of a London based natural resources corporate finance and issuing house. In addition to conducting investment analysis and research he has raised debt and equity finance for mining projects in both Europe and Africa. He began his career as an engineer with Debswana Diamond Company based on Jwaneng Mine in Botswana. Mashale holds a Masters of Engineering degree from the University of Sheffield, is a member of the United Kingdom Society of Investment Professionals (UKSIP) and is a member of the London based Association of Mining Analysts (AMA). Recently he held the position of Non Executive Director of a London based Coal Bed Methane Exploration company with projects in Southern Africa.
Conrad Hefer, Managing Director, Cresco Project Finance
Conrad Hefer is the Managing Director of Cresco Project Finance. He is a multi-skilled project financier with 17 years’ experience. His strengths are in analysing commercial issues and the impact on the project structuring. He also has strong skills in treasury functions, specifically in considering the impact of currency hedges and other instruments in mitigating on-going local currency deterioration, which is a risk in the project. Active as consultant, advisor and dealmaker in the project finance and structured finance market which also involves advising clients on utilizing ECA and credit insurance products. He is experienced in beneficiation, mining, agriculture, tourism and infrastructure projects and has back office experience including post closure support of transactions.

Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI is the Chairman of Perseus Mining Ghana Limited. Graduated at Metropolitan University, London with BA/LLB. Called to the Ghana Bar as Barrister-at-Law and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana. Legal Officer at the Ministry of Trade, Ghana from 1977 – 1982. Chief Executive Officer of Interoc Ghana Limited from 1996 – 2001. Former Member of the Council of State (Presidential Advisory Board (2000-2004) and former Board Chairman of Tema Development Corporation. Currently, Executive Chairman of Industrial & Engineering Services Ghana Limited, Chairman of Sun Gold Ghana Limited, Board Member of Ghacem Limited, the biggest cement industry in Ghana, Chairman of Ghacem Cement Foundation, Board Member of Maxam Ghana Limited, Chairman of Mobus Property Developers and Paramount Chief, Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area.
Peter Major, Mining Consultant, Cadiz
Peter is a Mining Consultant at CADIZ Corporate Solutions. He graduated from Montana School of Mines in 1981 and came to South Africa in Jan 1982 to work for Harmony Gold Mine.
He completed his South African Mine Manager's Certificate, an MBA from UCT and thereafter worked as a consultant and as Marketing Manager for Eimco Mining Machinery SA.
He began his investment career with Allan Gray in 1989 as a gold mine analyst. He then spent 10 years as mining analyst & fund manager at Nedcor Investment Bank where he won many performance awards. In 2001 as CIO he set up HBD Asset Management with Mark Shuttleworth, with assets of $530m growing to $1.5bn by 2005. In 2006 Peter joined Cadiz where he focuses on Private Equity, Capital Raising and M & A activity in the Mining & Resources sector.
Joachim Nzuzi, Business Consultant, Africa Rising Consulting
Joachim Nzuzi considers himself to be an Afro-optimist with unfailing faith in the African continent’s future. He has over 15 years experience in the business sector with a special focus in consumer goods, retail management and consulting.
Currently, Joachim is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Africa Rising Consulting, a consulting firm that was established to facilitate and bridge business relationships for potential trade opportunities between businesses in the DRC and the rest of the African continent. Today, the company’s diversified business interests include business networks in key African countries like the DR Congo, Nigeria, Angola, Namibia and South Africa. In addition, Africa Rising Consulting maintains a portfolio of projects in a broad range of industries. Additionally, Joachim is an Alumni of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, he has attended executive education courses at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (University of Pretoria) and studied banking at the University of South Africa.
Henk de Hoop, Business Development Director – Resources, Rand Merchant Bank
Henk de Hoop holds an MSc in Mining Engineering from the University of Delft, Netherlands, and he is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He started his career as a Graduate Mining Engineer at Goldfields of South Africa, followed by 2 years at Sasol as an Explosives Engineer. He spent the next 12 years as a Mining Analyst working for several broking firms, covering gold, diamond, coal, diversified, platinum and junior mining stocks. He was rated the top platinum analyst by the Financial Mail from 2005-2007. He joined Rand Merchant Bank in 2008, and is responsible for business development for the bank’s Resources industry clients, covering equity, debt, debt capital markets, M&A, global markets and corporate banking.
Dr. Antony Harwood, President and CEO, Montero Mining
Dr. Harwood is an economic geologist with 30 years of international exploration and mining experience and graduated from University of Wales, College Cardiff, with a B.Sc. (Honours) degree and Ph.D in Economic Geology. Dr. Harwood was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Montero Mining & Exploration in June, 2009. Between 2006 and 2009, Dr. Harwood held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Africo Resources Ltd., a Canadian company engaged in exploring, acquiring and developing base metal and gold assets in Africa. Between 1998 and 2006, Dr. Harwood served as a Vice President of Placer Dome Inc., a major Canadian gold mining company. Other professional credits include positions as a Director of Endeavour Mining and former founder and MD of Harwood International Ltd., a geological consulting company. Dr. Harwood additionally held a position as a lecturer - University of Wales, Cardiff (UK), University of Natal and University of Durban (South Africa).
